Riffs. Big riffs. Swollen, dirty, gorilla-bollocked riffs. Riffs like brickbats flung at fragile heads. That is all there is here, but, then, sometimes that’s pretty much all you need. Zolle is two hairy Italian dudes who’ve also served time in OvO and the brilliant Zu so they pretty much know what they’re doing when it comes to walloping a guitar or a drum kit, and while this is infinitely simpler and infinitely easier on the ear than either of those projects it’s still mighty satisfying. Drawing equally from Karp, High On Fire and Karma To Burn the instrumental duo thud, thump and thunder through an array of songs so short their brevity borders on the rude, only choosing to drag things out for the woozy slurp of the eight-minute closing track. Cool stuff, particularly if you like, umm, riffs. Yeah.
