This is a Leeds trio that had escaped my attention until now and according to Bandcamp they have put out two releases prior to this. They are named after some kind of bigfin squid and play rattling post hardcore that is inspired by the likes of Shellac and Unwound. Grooving basslines are interlaced in each track and hypnotic repetition adds to the tension.The distant vocals are a great mix between spoken, angry and yelled although those on “Rubberneck” are almost harmonies. There are menacing undertones and it all teeters on the edge of chaos and explosion throughout. This is very good indeed.
