Moose Blood is a band I am familiar with as I quite liked their debut EP last year (despite some highly dubious lyrics in some of the songs) and have also seen them play live. They are a poppy-ish indie band with emo-ish leanings and come from Canterbury. This is two new songs and they aren’t far removed from that last EP – driving and emotional indie rock with lyrics dealing with relationships and sex. By the way, this is being released on everyone’s favourite vinyl format – the mighty one-sided 8inch. I don’t have any 8inches in my collection. I am pretty sure I have a split 6inch and also a 4inch by Ludicrous Lollipops that I don’t think I have ever listened to but inherited from my younger brother a while back.
Both songs on here are titled with the names of American cities. The melodic opener is called “Boston” – it is mid-paced and features some name-checking about listening to bands which was also apparent on the first EP. This time it is Brand New and “Deja Entendu”, complete with goofy English pronunciation. The second track “Orlando” is similarly paced and the hookline of the chorus is “I liked you better with just your t-shirt on”. It’s pretty catchy and probably the better of the two songs on offer here. If you liked that first EP you are almost certainly going to be into this and the second song in particular.
