More squall from White Guilt, this humble four-tracker basically following the same chaotic template laid down on their full-length. This, if you missed it, means a surging wall of hc aggravation where everything’s in the red and nothing much makes sense. ‘The Weak (Will Never Change)’ sees those snarky vocals echoed to all fuck and tumbling ahead of everything else while the lengthy (or at least lengthier) ‘Ingest’ thumps about with mulish obstinacy and some lumpen riffs that could almost have been dredged from an Undertow record before cranking up the speed and sprinting headfirst into the more familiar sonic maelstrom for a bit. Jarring and splintered as it all is, the constrained EP-length format makes things almost unsatisfying: there’s the real sense that things could have lasted longer and that some of the ideas would have benefitted from being teased out a tad more. Maybe that’s just me, though, and maybe most sane people will be thankful for such brevity given the untrammeled spite and vitriol on display.
