The first song is what sounds like a child singing some mournful folk song like the start of that film Cross
Of Iron (one of the best films ever) then it goes into down tuned post metal. It’s doomy as fuck, with Steeleye Span singing folk in between the next heavy riff fest. This was all very popular earlier in the 2000s, there were loads of bands playing heavy post rock songs. I was in one of them, it was fun to play, but god it was boring to watch. I don’t know if there are that many bands still doing this any more, but I guess this can be compared to Pelican (who had one good song and then loads of really dull songs) or Isis maybe but with more vocals, and I guess an extra dose of Black Sabbath in there.
It is more vocal than most of those post metal bands, hence the Black Sabbath (vocals aren’t as high pitched
though, its more like Pete Steele singing!), if that’s your thing then go for it, me, I think it might be
better without so much in the way of vocals, and the solos.
If you like it slow and doomy then as long as you like a low voiced singer, singing a lot then you are in for
a treat. It ain’t for me though.
