Brief Lives is a tight post hardcore band I raved about last year and this is a 7inch that came out earlier this year. Had I been a bit more observant I would have been aware of this already as it came out in March. I’m actually thinking I may well have ordered it but having emigrated it is probably sitting in a mailer in my Dad’s garage waiting to be picked up on my return to England. In the meantime, we got an email with a bunch of links to bands that all sounded pretty interesting and this was amongst them. I had noted Quicksand and Jawbox as major influences last time around and these two songs don’t stray a million miles away from that blueprint but Fugazi and Bluetip are perhaps closer reference points this time. Only two new songs but this is solid fare again and I’m keen to hear a full length from Brief Lives.
