Totally Slow - s/t - LP (2013)

Labels: Self Aware
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is right up my street, with opener “œWasted Days” setting the tone from the outset – a barn burner, fast and melodic indie rock with the essential punk edge. There is a neat vid of them on youtube playing second song “œAcid Rain”, and it turns out these guys are kind of old. Old enough to have been in bands like Rights Reserved and Eagle Bravo. Crikey. Always a pleasure to see veterans plying their trade in new bands, especially ones that are still pointless punk rock bands that only a few hundred people will ever bother listening to. FOR THE LOVE! Anyway, this is a really solid record, it’s far from out of the ordinary but does a fine job, the songs all blast past, none are longer than 2.5 minutes. The music brings to mind bands like J Church, Anklebiter and Ash County Sluggers, just honest to goodness, grown up punk / indie rock played with tonnes of heart and effort. These dudes have all been “˜round long enough to figure out the fine art of song writing and whilst a few songs on here do kind of fall by the wayside, you’re still left with belters like “œHighest Hill” which are insanely good, and a record that will click with a few like minded individuals. You should have a pretty clear idea if this is for you or not.
