Every now and again I hear a bit of indie pop that I really fall for. That’d be the a-side “Channels” on this 7″. This is a classic bit of Rose Melberg work. She sings and plays along with a chap called Jon Manning, and this is a simple, strummy little number with stunning harmonies, delivering all the melancholy feelings that made you fall in love with Gaze, though the lyrics are not entirely clear so they could be singing about reversing over bunny rabbits.
Flip is “Seacliff” which is a little lethargic and it doesn’t manage to deliver for me, don’t know if it’s my record player or something but the melody seems a bit lumpy and dreary. Very throw away. Record is very worth it for “Channels” though.
