This one might have arrived a little too late for the right season but if you’re after some summery and poppy emo jams then you’re in the right place. These guys come from Sweden and this appears to be their first recorded output. I generally frown sternly at anything happy thrown the way of emo but something here is drawing me in. It’s probably the fact that whilst they are are a touch fiddly they still know that melody is crucial. See the hugely catchy and poppy “Christoffer Robin”. Cool choice of sample from “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert” at the start of this one too. Lyrically they are still personal and downbeat when they want to be and some nicely dorky lyrics get thrown around throughout (People think I’m edgy/Of that I’m all aware/ Better being edgy than a douchebag”). However, they do get a little cutesy at times – see “Poetry Issues” (“Together we could share my homemade scones” – unless I’m hearing things?!) – so don’t say I didn’t warn you. It looks like someone from Algernon Cadwallader mixed this by the way and they share plenty of common with their sound. Maybe a bit of Big Awesome too.
