Labels: self released
Review by: Oli Saunders
The Static Cult record label is no more, so this nearly slipped under my radar. Ghost Drugs are a new project by Clay Parton and others—though, as is often the case, there is a minimal amount of information about the release. It’s available to download completely free, another common trait. I can hear the fuzzy guitars and bass of Breasts going on but aongside this the experiementation is vivid. The vocals are yelled and echo, which suits the jarring fuzz and distortion but I can’t say I’m a fan of them. Despite this I can’t help but be drawn into the hypnotic melodies, particularly on tracks like ‘Armyman’. Yet another interesting band from San Jose.
