Labels: Lesdisques Blasphematoires Du Palatin – Riot Season
Review by: Alex Deller
To my tired brain the title of this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but when you combine it with the music it kinda does. It’s pure rock n’ roll freakery that suggests the people behind it might share the same affection for AC/DC and ZZ Top as they do for the whacked-out sounds of Can or Amon DÜÜl II, combining shuffling rhythms with feverish guitar scuttles and then dragging them on an endlessly looping merry-go-round ride for which gibberingly unintelligible vocals are the only rational accompaniment. The closest comparison I can think of is Endless Boogie which sure ain’t a bad place to be, and while Gunslingers haven’t yet scaled those heights it sure should be fun to watch them try to make the ascent.
