Jars - s/t - CD (2011)

Labels: Sad
Review by: Ted Reynolds

I think this band are from Lithuania, I’m basing that off a record they have called live in Vilnius – the rusty cogs in my brain clunked around and put two and two together. Its no wonder they call me ‘the brains.’ Jars are punky/indie/grunge. They have some great elements the song ‘I rise – You shine’ is really a nice crafted number. It almost reminded me of Marshall Teller, but then into that herky jerky playing a lot of notes guitar style that Bridge and Tunnel like doing. Actually that’s not such a bad reference point for this band. The problem is that it keeps reminding me of the Stereophonics, I don’t know why, but it’s there and it’s making it very hard not to turn it off. Listening through again, the Stereophonics elements appear only in track 3 – song to sing alone. Take that out, and its a good ramshackle punk/indie record. So bar that Kelly Jones indiscretion, good stuff!
