This 7inch has made it over to Australia all the way from Oslo, Norway via CZ towers back in England. Modern Love are ex a couple of bands that I’m vaguely familiar with – Death Is Not Glamorous and Strike A Match. They alternate between singing in their native Norwegian and English across the four tracks on this record. There is a slight dance influence to their post punk and there are sniffs of 80s influences along the way too. Plenty of melody too. I’m liking the brash vocals here and the tracks are driven and urgent. Things get political lyrically on the tracks sung in English particularly on the driven “Hammer It Apart” – probably on the other two tracks too but my Norwegian is a little rusty, or even non-existent. My favourite song on here is probably the incendiary closer “Life Does Not Live” but there are 4 good songs on here – well worth looking this band up!
