I dunno. Initially I was gonna compare this to a more muscular, more metal version of stuff like Zeke, The Dwarves and The Hellacopters. They have that big dumb rock thing going on, and while they lack the songs of those three acts they could probably carry a gig on a boozy Friday night thanks to sheer noise and gusto. Other little influences creep in, though. Spacier stoner moments and other such inclinations. Some Kyuss-y introspection and nods to those occasional moments where Fu Manchu get just a tad more thoughtful. That kind of thing. Like they have ambitions beyond just a rambunctious shitkicking. I can live with that. Whatever they’re doing, it’s generally ok. Just ok. I’ve mentioned five very good bands thus far, and Thinning The Herd definitely aren’t anywhere near entering those major leagues. They’re more in the Roadsaw or Leadfoot or Spiritual Beggars kinda ballpark. Sturdy, but you might forget about them if you accidentally move the MP3 files into the wrong folder. You know what I mean. And, like I said, it’s all ok. Just ok.
