Eight tracks of energetic post-hardcore, featuring fellas who’ve done the rounds in Pelican and Planes Mistaken For Stars. It’s solid, sturdy stuff, chugging and crunching away in energetic fashion and doling out big fat riffs as though they grew freely in the fields. The singer has a nice strained howl that can somehow still hold a melody, and overall it reminds me of stuff like Quicksand, Guilt and the Crownhate Ruin, albeit with a modern sense of fractured widdle pishing through it all. Last track ‘As It Is’ is probably my favourite here given its intense, climactic clangour: a fine way to round things off and, I hope, a suitable launchpad for their next release.
