A welcome and long-overdue reissue of this slice of ultra-depressive doom metal, which was originally released on Paniac Records. Both bands plough a similarly bleak furrow, combining guttural vocals, dense riffs and soul-pummellingly slow tempos with mournful, melodic lead parts. Worship break their eight-minuter down with a brief interlude (clean guitars and semi-audible mumbles) while Loss, authors of one of my favourite doom albums in (not-so) recent years, go even lower and even slower in producing the perfect soundtrack for the gradual poisoning of a once-proud king. It’s a masterful thing despite its diminutive stature, and I’d recommend you grab a copy before this one vanishes like the Paniac version did.
