There’s something in the water in Ireland, i’m sure of it. For such a tiny island the quality of music being emitted is pretty astounding. Thankfully this release by Sonda carries on the tradition. A new Dublin band by the looks of things playing dark, murky but powerful Post Punk. Almost industrial in it’s delivery. Female fronted with an early Killing Joke vibe but encompassing something much more contempary. Riff wise it seems close to a slowed down To What End? drenched in reverb with a driving rhythm section to boot. Vocally taking cues from 80’s Anarcho punk and Coldwave. Reminiscent of current bands in the same vein; Rakta, Belgrado etc. with 6 tracks in total this demo is a pretty damn solid release. Nice to see this genre has still got some tricks up it’s sleeve.
