Tidy, airless grind with some neat wiggly guitar parts from people who know what they’re doing. It blasts, howls and incorporates death metal influences but somehow lacks the WHUMP I’m ultimately craving. I seem to make this criticism a lot, so maybe there’s something wrong with me rather than the music? Maybe I have passed through a certain brutality threshold and need to start hammering nails into my face instead of listening to records. Anyway, to me, this is less a break-every-bone-in-your-puny-body experience than a playful clip round the ear. This makes it fun enough, but not quite the thing when I want my spine wrenched out of alignment and my soul reduced to thin grey jelly.
