While I really want to drop some sort of Thug / Bovine Records comparison here I admit it’s mainly because of where noisy rockers Sinking Suns are from in the world, and ultimately they’re more allied with the (slightly) less filthy realms of Touch & Go or Amphetamine Reptile. Thanks to the tight meshing of springily insistent basslines, raspy vocals and torn-tendon guitar parts I variously hear the influence of Big’n, Unsane, Laughing Hyenas and the Jesus Lizard at play, and none of this is any bad thing as you should well know. There are only two tracks, but they’re both pretty involved and extremely satisfactory in the paths they take, the conclusions they reach and the damage they mete out. All in all it’s some mighty fine stuff, and I’d be a big dirty liar if I said I wasn’t hungry to hear some more.
