Feroxide - Pawn - CD (2014)

Labels: self released
Review by: Ted Reynolds

I’m sure I reviewed another goth/electro/crusty punk band like this before called Ferox? Is this the same band or do all these sort of bands have a pot of wolfy sounding names to pick out of?

Like Ferox, it comes in a really nice bit of packaging, and is similar music wise – almost spoken word but with a touch of Siouxsie Sioux over gothic / crusty punk. It’s hard to describe, because I’ve never been a fan of the style, and I’m still not – I can’t say I am huge fan of the this.

Having said that, you can’t fault it – it’s great playing, interesting musically and lyrically – the whole record seems to be themed around sexual expression. The guitars have that classic 80’s goth rock chorus going, with solid 80’s sounding drums. If you are into this sort of thing you would not be disappointed. Then there’s a cover of ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ to wrap it all up.

Not my cup of tea by any means, but that’s just personal taste, there isn’t anything wrong with this at all, if you like this style then you are going to like this – it’s a prime example.
