Don’t think this lot are named for the Scorpions album, and while this is unfortunate I’ll let it slide since they play such solid, misery-soaked sludge. While nothing wholly remarkable in itself the punch it packs and the conviction with which it appears to be played are both admirable, as is the skillful merging of Electric Wizard’s druggy lollop and the bestial, sick-making rage of Cavity. Things’re pitched just right: oozing when they need to, blurred elsewhere and delivering huge, tendon-rending riff wallops with giddy abandon. Beyond the music itself is a sense of desperate fury that serves as the final coup de grâce, raising this one a clear notch above many bigger sludge bands on many bigger labels.
