Cold Holding - Between You And I - Download (2015)

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Cold Holding have been studying hard at the school of emo. They’ve got an emo band name. They’ve got emo song titles. They’ve got emo artwork. They’ve got a dude who bawls his eyes out over plaintive, emo guitar playing. This is a band who have obviously heard a bunch of records they fucking love and they decided to do a band. If there is anything that this website has done over the years, it’s fully back exactly that. If you have ever heard a bunch of records and decided to do a band, then… I’m gonna stop here before this all turns into a gloopy patronising mess. Anyway. Do bands. That’s an order. The second song on here, “œBut A Time Comes”, is the pick for me, it’s faster and energetic and tears away, the guitars roll along like a speeding train, I like that a lot. And I really, really like that Cold Holding get in and out of these songs in two minutes each time. That shows smarts. Decent showing here, nothing an old fart ain’t heard before but if these are your mates, you better go fucking nuts at their shows or you are basically dead already.
