A couple of months ago I reviewed a minimalist instrumental EP by Rosary from Michigan. It was pretty good. Charles Rogers is a band featuring the guy behind Rosary and they’re a lot more noisy than Rosary. It’s more in the vein of angry post hardcore and retains a melodic side. Loads of energy throughout too and lyrically it’s kind of despondent and dejected while the vocals are powerful and strained. The slower tracks on here have a recent Self Defense Family vibe and the faster ones are more like Drug Church so I’d say their sound is somewhere in the realm of where those two inter-linked bands would reside but yeah, it’s a promising start.
