Shizune are pretty cool. Hailing from Italy, they smash through some screamo in a style that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s certainly not Orchid-esque or Witching Hour. It’s probably more in line with the modern vibe than Euro screamo from the noughties. But I like it a lot which I didn’t think possible, as most new bands around appear a bit drab (we always talk about the bands losing their punk roots and trying to hard to just make melody and scream over the top). Y’know, I’ll go for it and say there’s a bit La Quiete going on in there – it’s pretty predictable to chuck that in given where they come from, but I heard it in track 3. It’s gone in track 4 where they revert to the more Antilles/Trifle Tower roots. Put out by Dog Knights Productions who seem to be a record churning machine. Some decent screamo for 2015.
