Labels: Bad Road CES – Let The Bastards Grind
Review by: Kunal Nandi
I can’t keep track of these maniacs. In recent years they’ve been busting out album after EP after compilation, chopping and changing lineups along the way, but I do know that I have dug them since their early days when they were on the peerless Shifty label which was the home for stoner bands that couldn’t leave hardcore alone. Somewhere around the ‘Goat’ EP, Fistula started tuning real low, got some fucked up sounding amps and turned their sonic palette poisonous. They also weren’t afraid to bust out a fast section in amongst the sludge, keeping you on your toes as you get sink deeper into the quicksand. This short but sweet (and hence easier to review) four tracker is a blast with two newies and covers of Fang and Antiseen. Killer, catchy, horrible riffs for days. It’s the Fistula way.
