I stuck this on the iPod ages ago but always had something else to listen to – there is just too much music and too little time these days. However, I put the first song on while walking home the other day and thought it was brilliant – a driven and energetic indie rock track that I felt the need to click the Repeat button on and convinced me to listen to the rest of the album too. The band themselves come from Massachusetts and feature at least one member of Daniel Striped Tiger.
Across the 15 tracks here, they play a style of indie rock with nods to 90s bands like Sebadoh in some of the guitar sounds and vocals but they combine this with something altogether more driven and punkier. Songs like that opener and “Trust Me” pack a healthy punch. The best song on here though might be “Death; And Everything’s Paid For” with its more unhinged vocal style. It would probably make a good set-closer too. The next song is also a cracker and it’s a pretty strong last few songs on the record.
It seems to me that this is one of the least talked about releases on Tiny Engines but it’s a really solid record and well worth checking out if you like some of the old classic 90s indie rockers.
