Weird, wonky hardcore released here by LVEUM and there by Toxic State. Musically, things are near-clean, with everything compartmentalised and played with a simplicity of spirit that recalls early 80s anarcho punk. Beneath the surface, though, things are not well. There are odd, scuttly qualities at play that unnerve and worry. The scattered drumming and occasional guitar/noise burps hint at unwholesomeness, and the gurgling vocal jibber-jabber confirm that your concerns are well-grounded. Beyond this, there’s a general psychic wrongness that is hard to pinpoint but nevertheless pervades: something that itches and burns beneath the skin like the sensation you get from medicine trying to pass through a badly-fitted cannula.
