Geriatric Unit always surprise me that they still keep going. I don`t know why but I expected them to implode after a couple of years. My mistake and seven years in there`s no respite on the ears from this lot. This EP was released for their Japanese Tour and contains four tight blasts of Hardcore punk. Opener `Standing on the outside` has all the right elements of a great song. It smashes its way into your skull in no short time. There`s three more of the fuckers up their sleeves after that! Most people reading this know the drill by now. It`s not pretending to be clever but it`s not just thrash for the sake of it. There are well thought out breakdowns, and the peddle is taken off the gas on more than one occasion which adds to the intensity. The venom in Gords` vocals is given chance to stand out over the chaos when needed. Kalvs bass is rumbling away at 100mph one minute to the next whilst cleverly filling the slower parts, all the while Jamie is cranking out some great riffs which blend it all together. Needless to say, Steve is attacking his kit as only he knows how to. Comes on red vinyl, foldout lyric inner, and sleeve which weirdly reminded me of a GENERIC LP. This lot are long enough in the tooth to know how it should be done and they`ve done it. This adds up to one killer EP and probably their best to date.
