Kindling play shoegaze but rather than spending the majority of their time here wistfully contemplating their footwear, they are the kind of band dragging it by the scruff of its neck with pace and vigour. Theirs is a thick, fuzzy wall of noise as exemplified on the soaring opener, “Blinding Wave”. Vocals alternate between male and female and are drenched in noise. The low rumble of the lengthy “Painkiller” is the pick of the bunch for me but this is four good songs. I might want a bit more variation across a full length but, for now, this’ll do very nicely.
