Steven James Adams - Old Magick - LP (2016)

Labels: Fortuna Pop!
Review by: MH

This guy is from The Broken Family Band who I’m not hugely familiar with but it’s indie pop stuff with plenty of acoustic guitar and keyboards. Kind of clean-sounding and mature with some interesting lyrics contrasting with the nice melodies running through the songs. The opening song is a commentary on society and how foreigners are treated – this is the best song on here for me. Although I might like this to be a little rougher around the edges, the songs have a melancholy and nostalgic slant that appeals to me and songs like “Modern Options” have a nice fragility to them. If you liked that Pete Astor album from the end of last year then this is worth a listen.
