Goskino - Fuzz Bomb - LP (2014)

Labels: self released
Review by: Alex Deller

Eleven tracks of husky, riff-slinging RAWK from a duo who hail from Stratford-upon-Avon. Everything’s stripped down and stripped back, the songs possessed of an admirable stompiness as they channel the likes of the White Stripes, the Black Keys, Clutch and Fu Manchu, distilling it all down into a greasy, classic rock-smelling substance that sticks to your fingers and’ll prove nigh-on impossible to wash out of your dungarees. True, there’s not much to separate Goskino from roughly a billion other bands playing this kind of bluesy riff-rock and the vox veer a touch to close to Eddie Vedder territory at times, but there’s nevertheless a playful sense of DIY fun about proceedings that definitely helps tip the balance in their favour.
