M.O.R.A. - Halveksunnan Aika - CD (2015)

Labels: self released
Review by: Oli Saunders

M.O.R.A. hail from Finland and play some fairly unrelenting hardcore punk. The vocals are constant – there are two singers going for it. They are at the forefront and the drums and guitars feel much lower in the mix. I reviewed them three years ago and I still feel the closest comparison to make with them is FxPxOx. It’s interesting, and six tracks are about right for this sort of thing. The first song ‘Nykyajan Narrit’ is a highlight; it feels the most punishing and the play off in the vocals is at its best here. One point of contention is that I feel the recordings are too polished – this sort of sound would be better if it had a rawer edge, to reflect what they are like live.
