Apparently this is “arctic shoegaze”. That’s what the email said that this came in on anyway. If I’d been a bit more alert I would’ve been aware of them by now as they have been around since 1998. I must’ve been half asleep when Captured Tracks put out a retrospective by them in 2012 too. So here I am I’m hearing them now for the first time in 2016 and what I’m hearing is something like upbeat rhythm-focussed and melodic instrumental shoegaze with a fairly clean production. I like it – the guitar sound fits in great with stuff like Diiv – there’s even guitar lines that sound like The Cure gone upbeat. At six tracks long I’m keen to hear more.
