Goldblooms - Alpha-Lupi - CD (2014)

Labels: self released
Review by: Ted Reynolds

This is pretty great noisy indie, with a touch of the jauntiness of that afro-beat thing a la the Unicorns, but
less of the noodly guitar (but still some noodly) maybe a sprinkle of Q and not U in there too (a very positive
thing in my mind).

I always quite liked that afrobeat thing, it didn’t last very long, but it was an enjoyable side of indie, fun, a bit punk rock and arty. Better that indie sounded like that, than Mumford and Sons eh?

This record is pretty much consistently good, I listened to it twice without getting really angry or bored, and being that my tolerance for virtually everything is so low at the moment, I’d say that’s pretty good.Even my cat has crawled on my back to have a listen, always a positive sign I reckon.

Best songs – Swore I wouldn’t Show Emotion, and Time to Die (which Dirty Dancing refrain wasn’t even that annoying).

A great record, even cats and people who hate themselves can enjoy it (there’s your tagline).
