Melampus - Hexagon Garden - CD (2014)

Labels: Old Bicycle Records – Riff – Sangue Disken
Review by: Oli Saunders

Melampus are from the Portishead school of music; they play electronica whilst Francesca sings montonically, but effectively, over the top. It is atmospheric and draws the listener in; ‘Second Soul’ has a creepy feel to it with the crashing of drums and a constant eerie riff. Ultimately, it doesn’t hold up for whole album, though I do appreciate the slight variance in vocals on ‘Simple Man’. Interesting but flawed.
