Labels: Boss Tuneage
Review by: Oli Saunders
I had a feeling this was a Boss Tuneage rerelease just by looking at the artwork and style of the record. Doctor Bison were around in the mid nineties, playing melodic punk that’s worth listening to. It’s quite slow paced but jams away in a way that I find enjoyable and relaxing. It’s punk music that feels natural and unforced. The vocals, quite high in the mix, are well delivered and varied. Lyrics are poetic and personal. There are probably many comparisons and interesting comments I could make if I were Alex Deller, but alas you’re stuck with me and I don’t really follow this kind of music. The guitarist, Dickie Hammond, was in Leatherface and I’d say Doctor Bison are not a million miles away – does that make you wanna check them out? – that’s my best point of reference.
The record is made up of Doctor Bison’s first three releases. Worth a listen.
