I wonder if these guys are named after Craig Bellamy or David Bellamy. An interestingly contrasted pair of characters there. Perhaps I’m way off and they actually named themselves after the infamous pirate, Samuel Bellamy. These Bellamys play C86-esque indie pop and do a good job of it – sweet melodies combined with predominantly dual male/female vocals, jangly guitars and a melancholy feeling throughout. The contrast between the more deadpan and melodic vocals is a nice feature of the first two songs in particular. “Best Friend” then shows a more driven side and “For You To See” is a lovely, simple song that closes the EP out nicely. Apparently the band have just gone their separate ways as the members move abroad but they’ll be back at some point. I look forward to their return.
