Review by: Oli Saunders

‘Do You Astral Project?’ is seemingly an album exploring the concept of out-of-body experience, though you’d hardly guess it from the lyrics (unless they are John’s thoughts whilst astral projecting?). A snipe about what Lincoln did to Native Americans and subsequent personal abstract words, it sounds quite typical to me! The album starts off with ‘Standing Rock’, a rigidly strummed guitar-piece with monotone vocals. Then we move onto a noisy second track. The album seems to me less chilled out than previous efforts and has a sort of anger going on. I feel it even in the more meandering ‘Blood on the Curtains’ and the equally sombre ‘Motel in Crescent Day’. Overall the album is very bitty; a solid but saddening offering.
