Sometimes Collective receives music that really makes you wonder how on earth it ended up here. This is a site where someone once started a thread asking for recommendations of screamo that sounded like it had been recorded in a bin. Either that or Andy Malcolm is fucking with me and is just seeing my breaking point for what I will review. Anyway, it turns out that Talèh, a seven member band from Sicily, are awesome, so thanks Andy. Half the songs sound like they should be in a quant Italian musical, in a good way. ‘Patruna o luocu’ is definitely the track that introduces the main character on the local streets. A narrator comes in at 3 minutes to set the scene. I am almost convinced of my theory when the next track ‘Caricaricci’ chimes in in similar fashion. ‘Quannu’ is then the track where he/she decides to leave their hometown and travel. This is like nothing I’ve ever heard but done fantastically well – fuck it, I’m recommending this even though you haven’t got a chance of tracking it down on the internet. Message me for mpfreez x
