There surely can’t be two bands called Doctor and the Crippens but this is far removed from the previous offering that I reviewed. Judging from track 2, Al Johnson has joined the band because it is full on US Maple-esque, in sound and lyrics. Yeh yeh, this was five years before US maple were formed but the point stands. Song 3 starts normally and then a minute in the singer stops singing and instead laughs hysterically. It’s not got off to the best start in my view. There are still another 29 tracks after this, either unreleased, or from presumably hard to find compilations, or from a live gig in Bristol. Megatron guest stars on vocals on ‘Slice’. Yet in between all the overly eccentric nonsense there’s still some decent punk rock.
