Labels: self released
Review by: Oli Saunders
David Allred has released a piece of vinyl; his vocals continue to compare well with Sam Amidon and the overall songwriting quality has improved, mainly because he (mostly) sticks to his guitar. The second track ‘Song for Chantal’ is a really good one; at times I’m not far from the warm feeling I get when I play Nick Drake. The tracks either side of this are more average but still pleasant. Song four is an instrumental, then we flip over to the second side in which ‘The Universe’ is the most experimental. ‘Hymns’ is the second best song on the album, and the title track plays out a slightly eerier organ dominated ending. Fine listening, just a little dull in places.
