The powerhouse rhythm section of Joel and Josh (formerly of Anodyne and subsequently Defeatist) suffer from locked-in syndrome, terminally tied together, forever trying to escape each other’s gravity well by employing a feint here and a sudden jab there. Radiation Blackbody’s math rock is on a cyber-quantum level, running the gamut through seemingly every bass run, every kind of drum smack, every combination of sound and silence. Woe betide us if they ever decide to add voice and guitar to these obscene equations.
