Good pairing this: noisy but varied. Power Take Off weren’t the draw for me here as I’d never heard ’em before, but their side is pretty neat. There are ostensibly three songs here, but they all kind of mulch into one another: a gross, slimy, woozy style of rock music that brings to mind weird stuff like Vaz, Men’s Recovery Project and the Melvins. Over on the other side, Multicult do what they do so well: heinous noise-rock where just about everything you touch has a jagged edge or a barbed spine poking out of it. They let a lot of elastic space into this song, but somehow it’s not even remotely breathable. Great stuff, of course, and if you like Big Black and Janitor Joe then you’ll be sure to engage well with their side of the disc.
