Stutter Steps - Floored - 12

Labels: Blue Arrow Records

Stutter Steps are new to me and they’re named after a stepping technique used in all sorts of sports. Seems to be tennis mainly. Anyway, they play nostalgic and wistful indie pop that has plenty in common with bands you’d see on Flying Nun’s roster. It’s all mid-paced and melodic and one track (“Identical Eyes”) has a lovely guitar line that is the sort of thing you might have heard on the last Real Estate album. Actually, probably the one before that as I still haven’t heard the new one. I like it – gonna go and look up their debut album from 2015.
