Black Army Jacket - 222 - Download (2017)

Labels: Magic Bullet
Review by: Alex Deller

Literal blast from the past, here, with the digital reissue of Black Army Jacket’s sole album from 1999. At heart a ruddy fast hardcore act, the band also flirted with metal, grind and powerviolence, meaning it made as much sense for them to release records on Rich Hoak’s record label as sign up for a (doomed) Relapse 7″. Things zip neatly along, with riffs a-ripping, drums a-blasting and a variegated array of growls, gasps and hollers by way of vocals. A sort of precursor to bands like Six Brew Bantha, maybe? In any event, a welcome revisitation.
