Was bowled over by Exotica’s 7″ and really enjoyed them live, so I’m a bit disappointed to find myself liking rather than loving this. Could be that it lacks of the jolt of the unexpected, or simply a result of going through a particularly joyless patch of late, but whatever the reason I feel at a slight remove from the sizzling guitars, trashcan crashes and hectoring, in-your-face sneers. It’s worth your time, of course, but just not quite enough to send me pinballing off the walls right now.
