More awkward spike-and-gouge from this gratingly persistent trio. If you’ve charted their trajectory thus far then this release will come as little surprise, the band demonstrating a well-honed and well-oiled approach to ugly, crotchety, noise-rock that relies as much upon open space and wheedling misdirection as it does lump hammer brutality and cruel, jagged edges. If it’s a case of progression by slow inches then in Multicult’s case it’s no bad thing, since ‘Position Remote’ is a great release in its own right as well as an admirable extension of a warped and unpleasant worldview.
