Hot on the heels of their recent LP “Where We Were Together” comes this 12inch of covers from South Korea’s Say Sue Me. First up is a slower and hazy, jangly version of “Dreaming” by Blondie which is the song I’m most familiar with on here. My Dad gave me a few of his old LPs a while back and “Dreaming” is the first song on Blondie’s “Eat To The Beat” album. I’m not familiar with the next track called “Do You Wanna Dance” by Bobby Freeman but it strikes me as a very apt song for Say Sue Me to play – it’s almost a partner to their “I Just Wanna Dance” track on their recent LP. I wonder which song came first for them? The Velvet Underground and Ramones both get the cover treatment too and I think their version of “Beginning To See The Light” challenges the Blondie song here for my personal highlight. These are all new takes on these old songs but Say Sue Me have definitely added their own unique charm to them and are a nice accompaniment if that recent LP isn’t getting you enough of a dose of Say Sue Me.
