Abjection Ritual seem intent on distilling some of the key elements that made ‘Through Silver In Blood’ such a mighty wallop: tribal drum patterns, morbid samples, quasi-industrial lurches into the abyss and the kind of blank crackling static you can imagine getting on your shortwave radio after the bombs have dropped. While such a clear stylistic influence could have left them sounding reductive, Abjection Ritual make it work, the band conjuring disastrous visions of ashclouds, twisted skeletons and blasted vistas where nothing green will ever grow again. As if to cement their rogue status, Starkweather vocalist Rennie Resmini makes a guest appearance … a badge of quality in itself, but also a sign that this one will perhaps sit most comfortably with a very specific type of extreme music fan.
