Labels: Helta Skelta – Static Shock
Review by: Alex Deller
Cracking burst of short-shrift snark-punk here. Every song violently froths and sizzles, jerking between cheesewire guitar lines, jittery percussion and superbly snotty vocals that convey both genuine frustration and a bitter sense of humour. Songs largely focus on the oafish jagoffery of men, and each one’s packed with so much laser-guided, kick-to-the-dick directness that 50% of listeners will be laughing/sighing/wincing/cursing in sympathy while the other half should be prompted to use the time between spins to quietly read and ponder the lyric sheet.
